Basic Rock Class

Updated: March 18, 2008

Come Rock with the Basic Rock!!

Calling All Students!!

The Basic Rock Class (BRC) is designed to bridge the gap between the Basic and Intermediate Climbing Classes. It introduces students to principles of technical rock and basic alpine climbing, allows them to establish mentorship relationships with more experienced climbers through a 1:1 student-to-instructor ratio, and gets them experience in following a trad lead climber that will lay the groundwork for learning to lead beyond the class.

The BRC is designed to leave plenty of time for personal, non-class climbing over the summer. In 2008, it runs from the beginning of June to the beginning of August and includes three full weekend outings and one single-day alpine outing. The class roster will be limited to 12 students. In addition to weekend outings, there will be four Monday-night classroom sessions, starting on June 9th. The class fee is $110 for BOEALPS members and $140 for non-members.

Getting started is easy, just fill out the application and mail it in! Applications are due by May 23rd. All applicants will be notified of acceptance the week prior to the first lecture. To get answers to questions that are not provided on this site, please email Mike Zalewski.
